The boy was sitting in his room, looking out the window.

‘Hey, that’s a pretty cloud,’ he thought to himself. ‘It’s not like the thick, dark clouds before this. It brings shade, but at the same time allows enough sun to shine through and keep you away from depression.’

Clouds, well, don’t stay at the same place forever.

It started to drift away gently, following the course of the wind.

‘No, don’t go away!’ he yelled. He put on his favorite sneakers and ran outside, chasing after the cloud. He ran and ran and ran until he was panting and wheezing, but he still couldn’t catch up with the cloud.

Watching the cloud moving further and further away, he started to understand how Nature works. The only thing which is Constant, is Change. Nothing is static. That is how the pretty cloud replaced the dark clouds in the first place anyway.

Tired, the boy lied on the lukewarm grass, still panting. He looked up the sky.

The sky was still blue.

‘The only difference is that,’ he thought, ‘there are many, many more pretty clouds around!’

Of course they are not the exact same shape as the one he chased after, but pretty nonetheless.

He smiled.


When your field of vision is limited by the frame of a window, you see very little.
When your vision is fixed on the things you’re running after, you see even less.

The other pretty clouds were always there.
Who knows, some might even be floating and chasing after you as you run after something else. =)
